design is nothing without sight...

A year ago I had laser surgery on my eyes to regain 20/20 vision without the aid of glasses or contact lenses.

It has been said that human beings have an unlimited ability to take things for granted. On the morning of my operation I took some images and used Photoshop in order to illustrate to others what those images would look like without my glasses. This allowed people to understand and me never to forget…

The aim is to frame them in a series of prints in my entrance hall to remind myself of the gift of sight.

Freeworld Coatings Building

This idea was for a company who specialized in Paint products.

The Facade wall panels where treated as subtle colour swatches and illuminated with a 1x28W Spazio Muro Exterior Wall Fitting. The effect was intended to trigger the passer-by's point of contextual interest whereby the knowledge of the new is passed on from the knowledge of the old and familiar.

To explain further, colour swatches found in paint shops are a tactile way of someone experiencing "colour" and bringing that into their own environment, therefore the building would be attempting to do the same. Bringing the very core product of the company and expressing that in a public space.

Dialux Furniture import

Importing a .3ds file into DIALux gives you the ability to combine realistic furniture that enables me to use the right furniture for the right lighting plan.

Please note the Shadows under the Wassily chair. DIALux calculates complex shadows very accurately.

So far the best site to download reasonable quality .3ds files for free is http://artist-3d.com/

A light feeling...

Nothing quite like feeling of being on site after 3 years of working on a project, and seeing the final product!
